September 30, 2019 The UNC-Chapel Hill General Alumni Association has recognized Lanakila “Ku” McMahan, ’07 (MPH, ’11 PhD), of Washington, D.C., as a Distinguished Young Alumnus. McMahan is the team lead for Securing Water for Food: A Grand Challenge for Development in the United States Global Development Lab at USAID.

Josie Caves Sivaraman, a doctoral student of epidemiology at the UNC Gillings School and graduate research assistant at UNC's Injury Prevention Research Center, will use a $25,000 grant to investigate this question.

August 23, 2019 As the Gillings School kicks off fall semester, incoming Master of Health Administration student Violetta Saldanha is ahead of the game. Over the summer, she was awarded the $40,000 HCA Corris Boyd Scholarship from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration and HCA Healthcare.
August 22, 2019 Dr. Marissa Hall will design and evaluate pictorial health warnings for food products. Dr. Sarah Mills will model the public health impact of a national menthol cigarette ban.
August 15, 2019 Dr. Kurt Ribisl has been appointed as the inaugural Jo Anne Earp Distinguished Professor in Health Behavior. His appointment began June 1. Dr. Jo Anne Earp, for whom the professorship is named, is a nationally recognized health behavior researcher and educator.
August 9, 2019 Dr. Mark Holmes, professor of health policy and management at Gillings School and director of UNC's Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, has been appointed to the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and Human Services.
