Barbara K. Rimer, DrPH, Dean and Alumni Distinguished Professor

Welcome! We are so pleased and proud that you are among the faculty at the Gillings School of Global Public Health! Individually and collectively, your high impact efforts breathe life into the Gillings School mission to “improve public health, promote individual well-being and eliminate health inequities across North Carolina and around the world.”While your department is your academic home, the Gillings School is your larger community. Our aim is to provide the resources and community capital needed to help you solve problems, collaborate, teach, lead, and engage in local and global research, practice and service. We are here to help you – and the Gillings School as a whole – thrive. You are key to that effort and, as such, we welcome your participation in the cross-school initiatives that help us sustain our vibrant, dynamic and collaborative community.

We strive to uphold values of civility, diversity and inclusion in all that we d. We invite your full commitment to this aim through the many professional development opportunities we offer at Gillings and at the University. We also seek to foster a culture of health for all members of the Gillings School – faculty, staff and students – and provide many on-site resources (exercise classes; bicycles; a shower in Rosenau Hall and more) to do so.

Below is information about these and other resources to support your success at the Gillings School. We welcome your feedback! If you don’t find what you need in our Gillings School Faculty Handbook, drop us a note at DFO-email@unc.edu.
