April 22, 2021 William T. “Bill” Small Jr., compassionate student mentor and champion of equity in public health education, died on April 18. He tirelessly served the students of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, and in particular students of color, for 28 years.

March 30, 2021 Once again, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health was ranked by peer leaders as the number one public school of public health in the United States — and number two overall. The rankings were published March 30 by U.S. News and World Report.
Martin receives Mentor Award for Lifetime Achievement
March 22, 2021 Dr. Sandra Martin is a professor, associate chair for research and director of graduate studies in the Department of Maternal and Child Health at the Gillings School. She is also the 2021 recipient of UNC's Mentor Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Tucker, Lo represent Gillings School as MLK Scholarship finalists
March 20, 2021 Two undergraduate students represented the Gillings School in the running for the 2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship at UNC-Chapel Hill. Aneesha Tucker was the scholarship winner, receiving $2,000. Amy Lo was one of two runners-up, earning $1,500.
Turpin and Morrison named to committees for National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
