9 Gillings School faculty members named to Clarivate's annual Highly Cited Researchers list
November 16, 2021 Nine academics from the Gillings School were recently named to the 2021 Highly Cited Researchers list from Clarivate. The highly anticipated annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade.
16 undergraduates from the Gillings School inducted into Phi Beta Kappa
November 3, 2021 Sixteen students from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health have been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the country’s oldest and most honored college honorary society. They represent all four departments that offer a Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree.

The 2021 award was presented to Dr. Beth Moracco, associate professor of health behavior at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and associate director of the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center.

UNC researchers awarded $9.25 million to study DNA variance related to disease
September 30, 2021 Dr. Michael Love, assistant professor of biostatistics at the Gillings School, is a co-investigator on a new five-year project — part of the $185 million Impact of Genomic Variation on Function Consortium, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Smith named inaugural Dickson Foundation - Harris Teeter Distinguished Professor in nutrition
September 29, 2021 Dr. Susan M. Smith has been named the inaugural holder of The Dickson Foundation - Harris Teeter Distinguished Professorship in nutrition. Smith joined the UNC faculty in 2016, and is a professor of nutrition at the Gillings School and the deputy director for science at the Nutrition Research Institute.
