On September 21, 2016, NCIPH training staff Avia Mainor and Kasey Decosimo assisted in the coordination and delivery of Evidence in Action, a train-the-trainer pilot adapted for the American Cancer Society. The one-day pilot was delivered in Atlanta, Georgia to 26 participants from the American Cancer Society working across the country with Federally Qualified Health Centers and other clinical organizations and systems. The training covered how to select, adapt, implement, and evaluate evidence-based approaches with a focus around colorectal cancer screening.

The training team was led by Dr. Jennifer Leeman, Associate Professor at the UNC School of Nursing and principal investigator of 4CNC, a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (CPCRN), in collaboration with Dr. Cam Escoffery from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. The CPCRN has eight member institutions, all committed to conducting community-based participatory cancer research and promoting the dissemination of evidence-based practice. The CPCRN developed the curriculum during its 2009-2014 funding period under the leadership of Dr. Escoffery and continues to adapt and deliver the curriculum to support program planners in developing skills in using evidence-based approaches.
