NCWELL Data Working Group shares resources, insights to address well contamination in NC
The first bi-annual NCWELL Data Working Group meeting convened in February 2024. Led by Dr. Lauren Eaves in the UNC SRP Administrative Core, the group is comprised of epidemiologists, geologists, engineers, data scientists and toxicologists. During this inaugural meeting, researchers from UNC, NC State, Northeastern, NCI, and the EPA shared their data methodologies, insights, challenges and findings using the NCWELL dataset to study well water contamination in NC.
This dataset has already made a diverse range of work possible, including recent research publications in PLOS Water, Environmental Health, and Environmental Research Letters, as well as online maps depicting the distribution of arsenic in well water in North Carolina and a digital interactive notebook for science teachers developed by the UNC SRP Community Engagement Core and Research Translation teams.
