Steffen inspired and guided countless colleagues and public health professionals on their path to become transformative leaders in communities, health departments and other care organizations locally and globally.

August 13, 2021 Dr. Vilma S. Santana, alumna of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, was inducted into Brazil's Academia de Medicine da Bahia (Bahia Academy of Medicine) in late May 2021.

Improving maternal and child nutrition is a family endeavor
July 16, 2021 Maternal and child nutrition researchers are gaining a clearer picture of the role that fathers, grandparents and other family members play in feeding. To develop a holistic approach that considers this family system, experts at UNC-Chapel Hill, including Dr. Stephanie Martin, have contributed to a special compendium of research that could lead to better nutritional results for caregivers and children.

Catching up with winners of the Gillings School Pitch Competition

Aditi Borde and Jacqueline Gerhart won a competition that was the first of its kind at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health back in November 2020. They received the top prize in the Gillings School Pitch Competition for their innovative idea to improve health outcomes for people who are diabetic that live in rural areas.
