Overview

2023-2024 COHORT OF THE MARY ROSE TULLY TRAINING INITIATIVE

The Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute began the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative (MRT-TI) in 2009 with the cooperation of the UNC Women’s and Children’s Hospital staff. In 2016, MRT-TI earned the distinction of becoming the first accredited Pathway 2 lactation consultant training program in the United States. The program is housed within the Maternal and Child Health department at UNC Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health. Students receive a solid foundation in breastfeeding and human lactation, as well as exposure to a broad spectrum of practice experiences. Public Health perspectives both on a national and international scale are woven throughout the two-semester program, which provides a minimum of 300 clinical hours and 95 didactic hours.

Application Process and Information

The application cycle for the 2024-2025 MRT-TI cohort has officially closed. The next admissions cycle will open on February 3, 2025.
