School leaders welcome new faculty members, announce promotions

Gillings School of Global Public Health representatives have announced new faculty members and faculty promotions for the period Dec. 1, 2016 to July 1, 2017.
New faculty members are:
- Ian Carroll, PhD, assistant professor of nutrition, effective May 1;
- Karine Dubé, DrPH, research assistant professor in the Public Health Leadership Program, effective Feb. 1;
- Emily Gower, PhD, associate professor of epidemiology, effective June 1;
- Wimal Pathmasiri, PhD, research assistant professor of nutrition, effective March 1;
- Nora Rosenberg, PhD, assistant professor of health behavior, effective March 1;
- Delisha Stewart, PhD, research assistant professor of nutrition, effective March 1; and
- Vaughn Upshaw, DrPH, EdD, Professor of the Practice in the Public Health Leadership Program, effective March 1.
Promotions were awarded to:
- Antonia Bennett, PhD, research associate professor of health policy and management, effective Dec. 1, 2016;
- Orlando Coronell Nieto, PhD, associate professor of environmental sciences and engineering, effective July 1;
- Claudia Fernandez, DrPH, clinical associate professor of maternal and child health, effective March 1;
- Liza Makowski Hayes, PhD, associate professor of nutrition, effective Jan. 1;
- Amy Sims, PhD, research associate professor of epidemiology, effective April 1; and
- Melissa Troester, PhD, professor of epidemiology, effective April 1.
