Questions, Comments and Feedback
We hope everyone has settled in nicely for the Fall 2019 semester! This is our regular biweekly update. Recent Ecosystem activities and accomplishments:
- Remember that each student at Gillings now has an Academic Coordinator, who serves as their academic adviser and personal guide along their entire Gillings journey. Remind yourself of those assignments here.
- Ecosystem information sessions at department faculty meetingscontinue. We’ve visited 6 departments and are looking forward to talking with faculty in the remaining two, Biostatistics and Environmental Sciences and Engineering, at their next meetings. Bring your questions!
- Round 2 Ecosystem transition meetings are scheduled for September. Each department chair and their designees will have another opportunity to share what’s going well and to raise questions and concerns with the OSA leadership team.
- Our Academic Coordinators are jelling as a team under Student Services Director Greg Bocchino and have developed professional goalsfor the academic year. Some will work to improve Gillings processes and systems that further benefit our students, while others will hone their skills in specific areas, connecting with other student affairs professionals on campus and at regional or national conferences. This was a key Ecosystem goal, so we’re excited that all OSA staff, including the Academic Coordinators, are on it!
- Our new hires are starting. Please reach out to Associate Dean for Student Affairs Charletta Sims Evans or any member of her team in the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) to welcome and engage with these outstanding new student affairs professionals early on. All will be located on the 2nd floor of Rosenau, in or near the main OSA office, Rosenau 263.
- Student Affairs Events Manager Natiaya Neal is transitioning to her new duties as we complete recruitment of a new Business Services Coordinator to fill Natiaya’s former role.

- Thanks again to everyone who’s reported issues or concerns, and please continue to do so. We can only fix it if we know about it.
