Questions, Comments and Feedback
- Our draft position descriptions for every new or modified Ecosystem staff position are undergoing HR review. We’re sending HUGE thanks to all chairs, program directors, business managers and student services staff who combed through job duties and shared thoughtful comments – all during the run-up to Commencement! We made material improvements in content and internal consistency because of the time you spent…thank you.
- Ecosystem chair liaisons Beth Mayer-Davis (Nutrition) and Morris Weinberger (Health Policy and Management) are guiding the work of chairs to confirm level of need for academic program support in each department. This will determine how many Academic Program Support Coordinator positions will meet all our programs’ needs. Thanks to Beth and Morris for their engagement and leadership on this and other aspects of the Ecosystem plan.
- We’re developing an Ecosystem organizational chart that we’ll share once we’ve completed both HR and budget reviews.
- We’re developing a process for holding individual Ecosystem Career Development discussions with student services staff members. The purpose is to learn each individual’s interests so we can best match people to jobs. While some jobs will change, Dean Barbara Rimer has assured student services staff members that there will be a job for them if they want one, at no less than their current salary. We plan to share what student services staff can expect at an information session being scheduled now, likely the week of May 28. We’ll also begin scheduling the individual sessions for late May and early June. Thanks to Assistant Dean for HR Steve Regan and HR Team Lead Linda Mitchell for expertly guiding this critical part of the Ecosystem plan.
- We’ve started a list of major transition issues to tackle. Here are two examples: 1) we believe staff workloads will be heavier during the first months of transition, so we’re examining options such as temporary labor; 2) there will likely be some new technology challenges of tracking and managing student information, so we need a plan. Thanks to the many student services staff members who are already thinking ahead to operationalization.
