Activities & accomplishments, 4/18/2019:
- Dean Barbara Rimer and Vice Dean Todd Nicolet announced Ecosystem implementation plans in meetings with department chairs and student services staff on April 3rd. Dean Rimer shared the plan in an April 9th memo to students, faculty and staff. Re-read her (attached) memo to faculty and staff, which includes a description of what’s in each phase as well as background and design work completed prior to implementation.
- We heard from multiple student services staff members that to meet student needs for the upcoming recruitment season, we should accelerate staffing additional enrollment management positions, originally planned as Phase 2 but now coinciding with Phase 1. Thank you for this essential feedback!
- The implementation team is already hard at work, with an aim to have as many Phase 1 & Phase 2 changes in place as possible by the start of the Fall 2019 semester. Big thanks go out to Charletta Sims Evans, Adia Ware, Jonathan Earnest and Karla Townley-Tilson for agreeing to serve.
- Job responsibilities for roles in the ecosystem model need to be identified, so we’re working with HR to develop new job descriptions. All current student services staff will have an opportunity to examine the new descriptions and to share their professional interests & career goals as part of the decision-making process.
- Coming soon: a web page where you can find the most recent Ecosystem implementation updates, along with frequently asked questions (FAQs) and resources.
- Have a question or a concern? Help us build the FAQs by sending your questions to SPHEcosystem@unc.edu. We’ll acknowledge in no more than 2 business days and get answers together as quickly as possible.
