Safe + Sound Week 2023
On August 8th, the NC OSHERC team spent time with our NIOSH-funded ERC colleagues and our partner Hope Renovations in Carrboro, NC, celebrating empowerment and safe training for women in the construction trades during OSHA's Safe + Sound Week!
We are thrilled to share that our latest research article titled “Feasibility of Implementing a Total Worker Health® Intervention During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Small and Medium Businesses: Results From the Carolina PROSPER Study” has been published in the prestigious Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine! In this study, we explored the challenges and opportunities of implementing a Total Worker Health® intervention during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic to provide tailored technical assistance to small and medium-sized businesses. We are immensely grateful for the collaborative effort of our research team and the support of our study participants. This achievement would not have been possible without their dedication and commitment to advancing workplace health.
Important research by NC OSHERC Director Dr. Leena Nylander-French
Dr. Leena Nylander-French of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, and Linda Gaines, a former NIOSH Trainee and UNC graduate. They had the top downloaded article in the American Journal of Industrial Medicine on the important issue of occupational exposure to PFAS ("Forever Chemicals"). They were also guest editors on the earlier issue on this important topic.
