Eighteen researchers from the Gillings School are part of the two newly awarded Carolina Creativity Hubs, which will leverage interdisciplinary work to fight obesity and improve water access.

May 1, 2018 Dr. Nora Franceschini has been selected for the Trudy Bush Fellowship for Cardiovascular Disease Research in Women’s Health by the American Heart Association (AHA) Council on Epidemiology and Prevention.

Eight faculty members win Teaching Innovation Awards

April 22, 2018 Eight faculty members were selected by students at the Gillings School as the 2018 Teaching Innovation Award winners. They are Dr. Carolyn Crump, Amanda Holliday, Dr. Whitney Robinson, Kathy Roggenkamp, Dr. Meghan Shanahan, Dr. Jason Surratt, Dr. Justin Trogdon and Dr. Vaughn Upshaw.

Holliday, Simms, Samuel-Hodge win Gillings School awards for teaching, mentoring, public health achievement

April 21, 2018 Three faculty members have been selected to win the Gillings School's prestigious awards for teaching, mentorship, research and service. They are Amanda Holliday (the Greenberg Award), Jeffrey Simms (the Larsh Award) and Dr. Carmen Samuel-Hodge (the Barr Award). The winners will be recognized at the School's commencement on May 12.

April 16, 2018 Dr. Jane Weintraub, adjunct professor in health policy and management at the Gillings School and distinguished professor at the UNC School of Dentistry, has been presented with the American Association of Public Health's Dentistry's Distinguished Service Award.

Ammerman recognized by UNC Center for Public Service for engaged research in NC

April 15, 2018 Dr. Alice Ammerman (first on left) was honored recently with the UNC-Chapel Hill Office of the Provost's Engaged Scholarship Award. Ammerman was recognized for engaged research with the Heart Healthy Lenoir project, a partnership to reduce heart disease in an area of North Carolina often referred to as the ‘stroke belt.’
