Dr. Ed Baker

Edward Baker Jr., MD, research professor of health policy and management at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and director of the School’s North Carolina Institute for Public Health, has been reappointed to the North Carolina Public Health Study Commission for a second two-year term by N.C. Speaker of the House Joe Hackney.

 
“The Public Health Study Commission advises the General Assembly on urgent public health issues impacting North Carolinians, such as immunization policy, accreditation of local health agencies and tobacco control policy,” Baker said. “I am pleased and honored to be reappointed to this important Commission.”
 
Rep. Hackney also announced six other appointments to the commission, including Orange Co. Rep. Verla Insko, Guilford Co. Rep. Alma Adams, Cabarrus Co. Rep. Jeff Barnhart, Bladen Co. Rep. William D. Brisson, Nash Co. Rep. Randy Stewart, and Dr. Anil Kasula, of Wake Co.
 
“Dr. Baker’s work with the Public Health Study Commission is vitally important to the work we do in North Carolina to make sure our citizens are getting the best health care possible,” Hackney said. “We appreciate his giving so generously of his time and talent so that we can build a better system for the people of our state.”
