Halliday appointed Chief Dental Officer

Christopher G. Halliday, MPH ’02, succeeds Dr. Dushanka Kleinman as the Chief Dental Officer of the United States Public Health Service. U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Richard Carmona announced his appointment, which was effective May 1, 2006. Halliday, who earned his dental degree at Marquette and his MPH at UNC-Chapel Hill, has made a career in public health with the Indian Health Service. With IHS, he has held positions in Barrow, AK; Bloomfield, NM; and Window Rock, AZ. A brief assignment with the Health Resources and Services Administration brought him to Rockville, MD to manage dental grant programs. Since then, he has worked at the IHS Headquarters, first as the Assistant Headquarters Dental Consultant, and most recently as the Acting Director of the IHS Division of Oral Health and Principal Dental Consultant.
