INDIANAPOLIS – J. Eugene “Gene” Lammers, MD, MPH, has been promoted to the newly created position of Medical Director of Senior Patient Safety and Quality for Clarian Health Partners effective September 1. Dr. Lammers will provide geriatric medicine expertise and manage quality improvement initiatives within the Clarian hospitals and its partner institutions. “Dr. Lammers is absolutely the best person to promote best practices within the Senior Health Services Center of Excellence and to serve as a physician resource on various performance improvement teams,” said Clarian Senior Vice President Norm Tabler. “He brings a wealth of geriatric clinical experience and a detailed knowledge of the Clarian Heath network.”

This is the 14th year of service for Dr. Lammers with Methodist Hospital and Clarian Health Partners. Most recently, he served as medical director for the Senior Health Center at Methodist Hospital. He has been a member of the Clarian Medical Executive Committee since its formation and is the committee’s current secretary. 

Dr. Lammers holds an MD from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, an MPH in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health in Chapel Hill, and has served on several policy and quality committees of multiple national medical associations. Dr. Lammers is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
