August 30, 2006 | |
Kathy Graham joined the School’s Student Affairs staff this month as career services manager. Graham provides career development assistance for undergraduate and graduate public health students on topics such as resume and CV development, interviewing and job searching. Graham plans to further develop the School’s relationships with potential employers and provide opportunities for students to connect with employers and learn about public health careers through career fairs and panel discussions. Graham is also responsible for developing the Career Services pages in the Current Student section of the School’s website. The Career Services pages will soon have an abundance of resources for students, including an updated jobs and other opportunities database. One of Graham’s first projects has been to organize the SPH Student Information Day, to take place September 6, 2006, when approximately 19 student and local organizations will be available to discuss volunteer and leadership opportunities for SPH undergraduate and graduate students. Graham says she looks forward to meeting and greeting students at this event and answering questions about future workshops and seminars related to career development. Graham, a graduate of UNC-CH, moved to Chapel Hill from Boone, N.C., where she was the Student Employment and Internship Coordinator for Appalachian State University. Prior to this position, Graham worked in management with Goodwin Weavers, and in Human Resources for Quintiles, Inc. in Research Triangle Park. She has two sons, ages ten and seven and enjoys playing competitive tennis.
