Denver, Colorado – ARCADIS (NASDAQ: ARCAF, EURONEXT: ARCAD) is pleased to announce that Jane Staveley was elected as president of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry North America (SETAC North America or SNA).

Staveley, principal environmental scientist and business practice manager with ARCADIS, will serve as president of SNA North America from November 2006 to November 2007. SETAC is a global, professional, not-for-profit organization comprised of nearly 5,000 individuals from more than 70 countries in the fields of environmental chemistry and toxicology, biology, ecology, atmospheric sciences, health sciences, earth sciences, and environmental engineering. Their mission is to support the development of principles and practices for protection, enhancement and management of sustainable environmental quality and ecosystem integrity. SETAC promotes the use of science in environmental policy and decision-making and is founded on balanced representation from among academia, business and government.

Her strengths as a leader are evidenced by her ability to get individuals to leave their sectorial hats at the door and assemble and draw on their particular strengths to achieve the goals of an activity associated with SNA,” said Chris Ingersoll, SETAC North America’s immediate past-president.

With more than 25 years experience as an environmental consultant, Staveley specializes in ecological risk assessment, ecotoxicity testing for pesticides and industrial chemicals, approaches for water quality-based toxics control, and the fate and effects of chemicals in aquatic ecosystems. Staveley holds a bachelor s degree in biology from William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia, and a master s of science in public health specializing in environmental chemistry and biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Author of more than 30 publications and presentations, Staveley has also served on the editorial board of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.
