Sacoby Wilson wins ELP Fellowship

Sacoby Wilson (Ph.D., Ball Advisor) wins Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) Fellowship for 2005. The ELP Fellowship is an innovative national program designed to build the leadership capacity of the environmental field’s most promising emerging practitioners. This two-year fellowship provides training, project funding and a vibrant peer network to 20-25 individuals each year engaged in environmental and social change work. ELP fellows come from nonprofits, community organizations, businesses, government, tribal government, and higher education, and include activists, artists, writers, lawyers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and scientists. ELP is committed to fostering a reflective, diverse environmental movement capable of responding to our complex social and environmental challengesSacoby presented his doctoral dissertation final oral defense on June 16, 2005 and will graduate in August, 2005. His dissertation research focuses on environmental monitoring and spatiotemporal mapping and estimation of atmospheric ammonia levels at human receptor locations in close proximity to concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) in Eastern North Carolina.
