About
Bob Pleasants is the Director of the Office for Undergraduate Research at UNC-Chapel Hill, where students get connected to the larger Carolina research community, find research funding, and share their research with others. In addition to an adjunct position in Health Behavior, he is a clinical assistant professor in the UNC School of Education. From 2009 to 2014, Bob served as UNC’s first interpersonal violence prevention coordinator, which allowed him to work with students to prevent sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking on campus.
He has taught hundreds of Carolina students in "Critical Approaches to Service-Learning," "Navigating the Research University" and the service-learning course, "Leadership in Violence Prevention." He has served on the North Carolina Sexual Violence Prevention Team, facilitated anti-sexist men's groups in Durham and published in Men and Masculinities, the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, and The Huffington Post.
He also is a founder of the UNC Men’s Project, an effort to create inclusive spaces for all forms of masculinity and to increase men's roles in violence prevention.
