Health Policy and Administration Faculty Member Named Journal Editor

UNC School of Public Health professor Thomas Ricketts III has been named editor of the North Carolina Medical Journal. Ricketts had been associate editor for the past four years. Dr. Ricketts, professor in the Department of Health Policy and Administration, is also director of the North Carolina Rural Health Research Program and Program on Health Policy Analysis at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research. The North Carolina Medical Journal is a peer-reviewed publication that focuses on providing a forum for health policy communication among stakeholders in the state. It is published bi-monthly by the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and The Duke Endowment. The publication also provides an opportunity to try to interpret research, science and policy in an effort to improve health, Ricketts said.. Each issues focuses on one major health issue affecting the state. For example, the July/August issue provided multiple perspectives on “Confronting the Problems of Overweight and Obesity.” # # #
