Written by Yulia Koltun, Senior-Nutrition, OSA Student AssistantThe 2009 Minority Student Mixer was held on Friday, October, 23, 2009 following the Fall 2009 SPH Graduate Program Open House. The event was sponsored by the Minority Student Caucus, a student-run organization that represents the diversity of the student body on issues affecting the school, university and larger community.
Held at the popular restaurant and bar Café Beyond, the event provided current and prospective students a chance to mix and mingle in a relaxed setting. The event, attended by approximately 20 students, featured an intimate panel discussion that allowed for prospective students to receive answers to their questions and feedback on the UNC student experience. Stephanie Baker, the event planning chair, felt the purpose of the event was achieved: “The visiting students seemed to really enjoy seeing that there was a supportive community and organization that cares specifically about their experience at UNC. We had a chance to give guidance on how make their graduate schooling successful and enjoyable.” Get more information on the Minority Student Caucus and its involvement in the School!
