ESE Emeritus Professor Philip Singer invited presenter at International Conference

Dr. Philip Singer, Emeritus Professor of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, was invited to present a paper on “Emerging DBPs: Have we been looking under the wrong street light?” at the International Water Association’s Leading Edge Technology Conference in early June in Brisbane, Australia. During his visit, he also presented a series of lectures at the Water Quality Management Center at the University of Queensland. The titles of his presentations were: “Fifty Years of Research on Dissolved Organic Matter and Drinking Water,” “Disinfection Byproducts in Drinking Water: Past, Present, and Future,” and “Integrated Analysis of the Removal of Natural Organic Matter by Magnetic Ion Exchange.”

Dr. Singer also made presentations on “Emerging DBPs: Have we been looking under the wrong street light?” at a one-day seminar on Advanced Disinfection and DBP Control Technologies sponsored by the Virginia Section of the American Water Works Association in March, “Formation and Occurrence of Disinfection Byproducts in Drinking Water” at a workshop on disinfection byproducts held by the Public Water Supply Section of the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources in April, and “Chloramines for the Control of Disinfection Byproducts in the Distribution System: Pros and Cons” at a Water Quality Symposium sponsored by the New England Water Works Association in May.
