March 06, 2006 | |
The Kaplan Student Publication Award, sponsored by the Epidemiology Section of the SPH Alumni Association in honor of Dr. Bert Kaplan, Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology, recognizes an exceptional paper written by a student during his/her work within the program. The student must be first author on a paper accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal prior to the date of graduation. Selection of the paper is based on public health importance, scholarship, and creativity and is judged by committee. The Alumni Association is proud to award the 2005 Kaplan Award to Cheryl Stein for her paper “Sulfa Use, Dihydropteroate Synthase Mutations, and Pneumocystis jirovecii Pneumonia” (Emerg Infect Dis. 2004 Oct;10(10):1760-5). Cheryl received her MSPH in May 2002 and is currently completing her dissertation under the direction of Dr. Bill Miller. For further information please contact Nancy Colvin by email at ncolvin@unc.edu |
