Health policy and management department selected for CAHME Mentorship Circle

The UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s Department of Health Policy and Management is among the first in the country to achieve membership in the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) Mentorship Circle.
In establishing the Mentorship Circle designation, the CAHME board sought to recognize programs that not only achieve the high standards of CAHME accreditation, but also engage in a variety of activities that help to extend CAHME’s mission to advance the quality of graduate health care management education.
Mentorship Circle status recognizes that these programs provide opportunities to other students and other programs to advance their experiences and skills for the good of the health care field.
“We are honored to be selected as one of the inaugural programs in the CAHME mentorship circle,” said Morris Weinberger, PhD, Vergil N. Slee Distinguished Professor of Healthcare Quality Management and chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management. “We look forward to working with other programs to share our best practices in the areas of health care finance and diversity and inclusion, thus contributing to CAHME’s mission of advancing the quality of health management education.”
The UNC Gillings School’s department was one of only 14 selected nationwide. The department has won high praise in previous CAHME assessments, including an extremely successful accreditation visit in December 2015 and being named one of eight winners in 2017 of the inaugural CAHME/Aramark Innovation Grants, which recognize innovative ideas in improving graduate health-care management education.
