Health Policy and Management wins inaugural CAHME/Aramark Award

The Department of Health Policy and Management at UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health is one of eight winners of the inaugural CAHME/Aramark Innovation Grants.

The grants recognize innovative ideas in improving graduate health-care management education.

In presenting the awards, representatives from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) announced that the “high volume and quality of applications” moved them and Aramark to increase the number of winners from four to eight.

“We are incredibly proud of our program and our truly exceptional students,” said Morris Weinberger, PhD, Vergil N. Slee Distinguished Professor Of Healthcare Quality Management and chair of the Gillings School’s health policy and management department. “We are grateful to CAHME and Aramark for sponsoring this award, which will further support our students’ professional development opportunities. We are confident this will only enrich their experiences in the department and position them for excellent jobs.”

The Department of Health Policy and Management will use the $3,660 award for innovative student learning experiences, support of students’ first-ever participation in national case competitions and professional association meetings.

“CAHME, along with Aramark, congratulates the winning programs and believes the students benefiting from these grants will be better prepared to serve the health-care industry and the community in the future,” said Anthony Stanowski, DHA, FACHE, in a statement.

Stanowski is president and chief executive officer of CAHME.
