Valerie is a Research Associate serving as Director of Research for the Water Institute. Her research interests broadly focus on WASH and health, better understanding critical sources of exposure and transmission pathways for fecal contamination and other WASH-related contaminants, and sustainable service delivery in LMICs. Valerie earned a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and has experience working on water and sanitation projects in the USA, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South Asia.
