Stephanie Watson-Grant, DrPH is the Deputy Project Director for the USAID funded Country Health Information and Data Use (CHISU) program. Dr. Watson-Grant has over 17 years’ experience in the field of international health and development, highlighted by 10 years of management experience at the MEASURE Evaluation project. She began her career with the Social Development Commission, the Jamaican Government’s agency for community development and developed skills in research and planning at the community level before holding positions with USAID and UNAIDS in Jamaica. Her areas of expertise are strategic leadership and management of USAID funded projects, planning and program implementation, M&E systems assessment, HIS implementation, research, training and conceptual development of ideas such as evaluation capacity strengthening and country ownership. She has demonstrated capacity working with senior level representatives of foreign government (as evidenced through her work in several countries), international donor organizations (USAID, Global Fund and UN Agencies) and civil society. As Director for Field Operations on the MEASURE Evaluation project, Dr. Watson-Grant provided oversight to the $118 million portfolio of health information system activities funded by 36 missions and eight different funding earmarks. She brings a balance of technical and management experience, is well versed in managing large diverse and regionally dispersed teams. Dr. Watson-Grant has an MSc in Government (International Relations specialization) from the University of the West Indies, Mona and a DrPH in Health Policy and Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where her dissertation focus is on the measurement of country ownership and its relationship to health outcomes.
