Quetzabel Benavides is a PhD student in the Health Behavior Department at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Public Health. She has completed research in domestic and international settings to investigate health access among immigrant communities, particularly access among Spanish-speaking communities. Quetzabel is interested in understanding how ongoing immigration policies impact delivery of health resources for families of mixed-immigration status. Additionally, Quetzabel has worked as a supportive advocate to aid Spanish-speaking survivors of intimate partner violence. Quetzabel's future research aim is to study the intersection of immigrant identity among Latina survivors of intimate partner violence to reduce future first time victimization.
