About

Matt Cain works as the primary liaison for four departments of Gillings School supporters – Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition and the Public Health Leadership Program. In his major gift role, Matt travels throughout North Carolina as well as across the country, with emphasis on California, Colorado, Georgia and the Northeast.
 
Prior to joining the Gillings School team in October 2016, he was the assistant athletic director for development at Presbyterian College in South Carolina. He brings experience in athletic giving, scholarship endowments, capital improvements and annual giving operations. Matt has a bachelor's degree in geology from Furman University and a master's degree in education from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. A native of Apex, N.C., he currently resides in Chapel Hill.

Staff/Administrative Duties

- Program liaison for the Departments of Nutrition, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, and Maternal and Child Health, as well as the Public Health Leadership Program

- Builds relationships with alumni and friends to increase understanding and support of the Gillings School’s mission
