Joe Dawson, MA

Digital Communications Specialist
North Carolina Institute for Public Health

About

As a digital communications specialist for the North Carolina Institute for Public Health, Joe Dawson updates and maintains NCIPH and its related websites and social media channels, manages email communications, designs graphics, fliers, and promotional items and creates video content for NCIPH. He helps his colleagues and NCIPH partners tell their stories, off-and-online, and gets to brag about NCIPH's amazing work as part of his job description.

Dawson has been an ecology field tech, a science teacher, a comedian, a website maker, a writer and the host of several science-comedy shows in person and on the internet. He lives in Durham, North Carolina with his partner, Laura, two cats, a dog and a newt named Fig. He will stop at nothing to tell public-health and other science stories, using evidence-based practices, video and in-person storytelling and puns, if need be.
