About

My research involves using innovative qualitative methods to investigate mechanisms underlying modern health issues. I have worked in research involving the emergency medical services workforce, investigating how structural racism, violence, language, culture, and training affect that work. Supported by my background as a public school teacher, I have also begun research in how adolescent health behaviors, especially risk behaviors such as peer violence, are influenced by structural racism and criminalization.
