About

Daniel Reyes, a native Texan, is the Outreach Coordinator for Building Veteran Healthy Communities. After serving in the Air Force, Daniel worked in arts administration, special events coordination, social services, and community outreach.

Daniel earned his Master's degree in Folklore from UNC in 2022, where he worked with the Durham-based dance company Takiri Folklor Latino on a collaborative ethnographic project for his thesis. The research culminated in a podcast series, Connections through Folklore: Dancing with Takiri, addressing how dance can create a powerful collective and transnational identity, leading to a sense of family for a group experiencing dramatic cultural change.
