Beth Porreco has over 30 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse working primarily in local health departments as well as agencies related to child development. In the health department setting, Beth worked with Maternal Child Home Visiting, Child Health and Immunization, Child Service Coordination, Care Coordination for Children, OB Care Management, and had certification as an expanded role nurse screener able to provide health assessments in accordance with the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) provision of Medicaid. Beth's experience in child development was acquired through her years at the Developmental Evaluation Center working with children of various ages and the Children's Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) focusing on developmental early intervention for children ages birth to three years.
Beth's teaching interests are related to parent/caregiver education regarding health, safety, and child development.
Beth's interests include genetics, developmental disabilities, and the effects of early childhood experiences on brain development.
As an Infant-Toddler/Child Care Health Consultant, Beth serves as a primary resource when licensed child care facilities, caring for children birth to three years of age, have any health and/or safety needs or questions. She provides leadership in the assessment and development of child care health services in North Carolina, delivers consultation and technical assistance, provides training and educational materials and conducts health and safety assessments.
