About

Shayla C. Higginbotham is an Adjunct Assistant Professor within the Department of Health Policy and Management, teaching Health Care Strategy and Marketing.
 
Shayla has led hospital and ambulatory operations for community and academic medical centers (AMCs) across the country, as well as served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for a public Women’s and Children’s Hospital.  Her scope of impact expanded into strategic and operational advisory services, when she transitioned into Deloitte, and currently serves as the Principal and Healthcare Advisory Lead at CohnReznick.      
 
Shayla partners with healthcare leaders to provide transformative guidance and has consulted internationally on the development of an academic health sciences system and residential health and wellness 5-star resort in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
 
Shayla is a double Tar Heel, holding a Master of Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the Gillings School of Global Public Health and a Minor in Business from Kenan-Flagler Business School.
