About

Doris Dworschak is the Director of Finance and Administration for ESE. In this role, Ms. Dworschak is responsible for all aspects of the department financial and administrative operation and leads the support staff in its efforts.

Prior to arriving at UNC, Ms. Doris Dworschak was the Chief Operating Officer for the Clinical and Translational Research Institute at the University of California, San Diego. She built the infrastructure from the ground up which nearly tripled under her management. She managed and supervised all senior level personnel, as well as the administrative core, and oversaw more than $50 million in grants and programs. She was responsible for all facets of support to the CTRI operation, services to its customers, and collaborative multi-department and multi-institution projects, and was involved in the space allocation and design of the new $269-million Altman CTRI building. Before leaving UCSD she was the project manager for the successful $53million competitive CTSA renewal proposal.

Ms. Dworschak has more than 20 years of experience in business administration at scientific research institutions, primarily in the academic medical arena. In addition to her role at UCSD, she served for ten years as a senior administrator at UCLA’s Department of Medicine and five years as a business team leader at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. At the national laboratory, she worked as the program analyst for the Civilian Nuclear Energy program, Applied Energy, and NIH. She received an MBA from New Mexico State University, a Master Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, and a BA in Communications from UCLA. In addition, she has been conferred the designation of a Balanced Scorecard Professional from the Balanced Scorecard Institute in conjunction with the George Washington University College of Professional Studies and is a green belt in Six Sigma.
