Students win American Water Works Association scholarships

Two environmental sciences and engineering students at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health have received financial awards from the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Alexander Gorzalski, doctoral student, and Hemali Oza, alumna of the School’s Bachelor of Science in Public Health program and current master’s student, were recognized on June 13 during AWWA’s annual conference and exhibition.
Gorzalski was awarded the Abel Wolman Fellowship, established by AWWA to support advanced training and research in the field of water supply and treatment.
Oza received the Hazen & Sawyer Scholarship, which supports students with leadership potential in applied research and consulting in the field of drinking water.
