King joins student affairs office as admissions officer

W. Johnston King, MA, has joined the Gillings School’s Office of Student Affairs as admissions coordinator, effective Jan. 5.
In that newly-created role, King, in collaboration with student services managers in the School’s academic units, will coordinate Schoolwide prospective student events, manage the Gillings Program Search (GPS) and serve as the School’s liaison for the Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS).
After earning an undergraduate degree from Barton College (2007) and Master of Arts degree in education from East Carolina University (2014), King served as an admissions counselor for undergraduate programs at Barton College (2007-2011) and as assistant director (2011-2014) and associate director (2014) of Barton’s Accelerated Professional Programs.
“We are pleased that Johnston has joined our team in the Office of Student Affairs,” said Charletta Sims Evans, MEd, assistant dean for student affairs. “His experience in admissions will be an asset to our School.”
