Gregory Bocchino, EdD, has joined the staff of the Gillings School of Global Public Health as director of student services, effective Jan. 27.
Bocchino (bow KEY no), who received his doctorate in counseling and human development from the University of Rochester, has worked for the New York City Board of Education, The State University of New York, The University of Louisville and The University of Kentucky.
In his 19-year professional career, he has served as a career counselor, student adviser and student development officer, using creative activities and programs to engage and motivate students who are making career decisions. Most recently, he was director of advising services at Columbus State Community College.
“I am excited to work with the Office of Student Affairs team and public health students in achieving their academic and professional goals,” Bocchino said.
“We look forward to having Greg on our team,” said Charletta Sims Evans, MEd, assistant dean for student affairs. “He has extensive experience in academic advising and career services and will be an asset to our School.”
Bocchino succeeds Sherry Rhodes, who served as the School’s student services director from 1993 to 2013.
