Two UNC scholars win 2023 Engaged Scholarship Prizes

Dr. Dane Emmerling and Elana Jaffe are the recipients of the 2023 Engaged Scholarship Prizes, which honors their scholarship to address public issues, engage communities in collaborative processes that produce or apply knowledge, advance service-learning and civic engagement in higher education, and disseminate their work to a broader public.

Kafka receives 2023 Dean's Distinguished Dissertation Award

Dr. Julie Kafka, a recent doctoral graduate in health behavior from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, has been named one of four 2023 recipients of The Graduate School's annual Dean's Distinguished Dissertation Awards.

UNC researchers receive NC Evaluation Fund Grant to support Project RESTART

Project RESTART aims to develop a Domestic Violence Intervention Program model that incorporates restorative justice, trauma-informed programming, wrap-around services, partnerships with social justice and economic opportunity organizations, and communication strategies that prioritize survivor-centered content. The interdisciplinary collaboration recently received a funding award from the North Carolina Evaluation Fund Grants program.

3 from Gillings School community to be honored on University Day

The Gillings School will receive special recognition during the ceremonies on University Day, which will mark the 229th anniversary of UNC’s founding. Alumni Dr. Nicole K. Bates and Dr. F. DuBois Bowman, along with staff member Charletta Sims Evans, will be celebrated, and two School researchers will share their latest findings.
