Dr. Xihao Li

Assistant Professor of Biostatistics and Genetics Xihao Li, PhD, was featured in the American Statistical Association (ASA) Section on Statistics in Genomics and Genetics (SSGG) quarterly fall 2023 newsletter. In the brief, Li gave tips and guidance for navigating academic job searches.

“[Academic] job search is never easy. Everyone may feel ups and downs at any given time of the job application season, so it is important to stay positive and realize that you are not alone,” says Li.

Li joined the departments of biostatistics and genetics at UNC in August 2023.

The Practical Playbook III: Working Together to Improve Maternal Health

Dorothy Cilenti, DrPH, professor of maternal and child health and director of the Maternal Health Learning and Innovation Center (MHLIC) and the National Maternal and Child Health Workforce Development Center, and fellow experts at the MHLIC are co-authors on the third edition of the Practical Playbook: Working Together to Improve Maternal Health.

The book, which was published by de Beaumont and also co-edited by Gillinngs School alumnus and president of the de Beaumont Foundation Brian C. Castrucci, DrPH,  features over 150 author contributions to more than 50 chapters on equity, data, collaboration, innovation and policy.

The Practical Playbook III is a guide for researchers, community activists and advocates of maternal health offering practical tools and strategies to improve inequities in maternal health. This third volume aims to describe the need and opportunities for improving maternal health through multi-sector collaborations. It highlights examples of effective cross-sector partnerships that are making real improvements in health outcomes for maternal health populations and offers practical tools and strategies for practitioners working in this space.
