HPM student awarded Class of 1938 travel fellowship
May 14, 2014
April Peterson, rising senior in health policy and management in the Gillings School’s Bachelor of Science in Public Health program, was one of seven undergraduates awarded the UNC Class of 1938 travel fellowship for research abroad this summer.
Every year since 1975, an endowment created by UNC’s Class of 1938 has funded independent projects abroad by UNC students. Class members, who lived through and lost friends to World War II, created the endowment to help foster international understanding and promote world peace.
Peterson will travel to the Mukono districts of Uganda and implement a nutrition curriculum supplemented with the expansion of a community garden.
