Nutrition student wins research prize in national poster competition

Gina Tripicchio, doctoral student in nutrition at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, was selected as one of three winners in a research poster competition sponsored by The Obesity Society’s eHealth/mHealth section.

Tripicchio’s abstract, “Examining the Effectiveness of Technology Components Added to a Family-Based Behavioral Pediatric Obesity Treatment Program,” will be recognized at the annual section meeting on Nov. 2.

“The study examines the addition of two technology components – a physical activity app and web-based health coaching sessions, as adjuncts to a traditional in-person pediatric obesity treatment program,” she said.
