Health policy and management senior named Luce Scholar
March 2, 2018 Leah Everist, an undergraduate health policy and management student at the Gillings School, has been selected as a 2018 Luce Scholar by the Henry Luce Foundation. Everist will take part in a year-long internship in community preparedness and disaster response in Asia.
Rimer announces Stürmer as new epidemiology chair
December 14, 2017 Dr. Til Stürmer will become chair of the Gillings School's Department of Epidemiology on March 1, 2018, pending necessary approvals, including from the UNC board of trustees. Dean Barbara K. Rimer expressed confidence in Stürmer's deep commitment to assuring that the department remains one of the top programs in the world, and thanked outgoing chair, Dr. Andy Olshan, for 11 years of excellent service.

Kellogg Foundation. The grant project aims to increase the number of people of color serving as certified lactation consultants in vulnerable communities.

UNC Gillings School, RTI International to test for lead in drinking water at 300 Wake County households with young children

The Gillings School and RTI International are partnering to offer free water and child blood lead tests for up to 300 Wake County, N.C., households using private wells for drinking water.
