April 15, 2018 Dr. Alice Ammerman (first on left) was honored recently with the UNC-Chapel Hill Office of the Provost's Engaged Scholarship Award. Ammerman was recognized for engaged research with the Heart Healthy Lenoir project, a partnership to reduce heart disease in an area of North Carolina often referred to as the ‘stroke belt.’

Pam Haines, former nutrition faculty member, dies at 70

April 13, 2018 Dr. Pamela Sue Haines, nutrition professor at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health for 25 years, died at her home in Hillsborough, N.C., on April 10. She was 70 years old.
