The Department of Biostatistics welcomes Dr. David Page for his talk "Probably Approximately Correct Causal Discovery." Dr. Page works on algorithms for data mining and machine learning, and their applications to biomedical data, especially de-identified electronic health records and high-throughput genetic and other molecular data.
Dr. Nathan Crook’s research focuses on developing new methods for engineering microbes, and applying these methods to improve human health. As a graduate student at UT Austin, he developed several new methods to genetically engineer baker’s yeast, including RNAi screens and continuous directed evolution approaches using retrotransposons.
