As the Syrian conflict enters its 12th year, severe economic sanctions, the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and recently the catastrophic earthquakes are affecting all parts of Syrian society. Despite this disaster, there has been little progress towards sustainable peace. In this lecture, Dr. Layka will share his experience from the ground, taking an interdisciplinary approach informed by his background as an activist, dentist, and public health practitioner.
