Diversifying the Gillings Research Workforce: NIH Diversity Supplement Workshop

This workshop qualifies for 1 hour of credit toward the Gillings School’s annual inclusive excellence training requirement for faculty and staff.

The goal of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Diversity Supplement program is to enhance the diversity of the research workforce by recruiting and supporting students, postdoctorates and eligible investigators from underrepresented backgrounds, including those from groups that have been shown to be nationally underrepresented in science.

This program provides additional funds to existing NIH grants to recruit eligible participants to engage in research experiences in the biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences.

This workshop will:

• Provide an overview of the NIH Diversity Supplement requirements, eligibility, application process and review criteria.
• Provide tips curated by a successful awardee for crafting a competitive application.
• Hear from a panel of faculty/student recipients who will share their insights for crafting an award-winning application
