Crucial Conversations: Why are so many Black babies dying in NC?

February 11, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am

North Carolina has one of the worst records in the nation for the deaths of babies a year or younger. The rate of Black babies’ deaths is driving that statistic. Statewide, the gap between Black and white infant deaths was wider in 2018 than it was in 1999. Black infants born in North Carolina are now more than twice as likely to die than white infants. Panelists at this event will discuss the extent of the crisis and how NC can do better for Black infants.

Panelists include: Lynn Bonner, News & Observer; Whitney Tucker, NC Child; Rebecca Cerese, Health Advocacy Project
